Devlog 02: Character Sheets
Hello Bludgeoneers!
This one took way longer to add than expected. As of now, you have access to fill-able character sheets!
"They're just character sheets, there's no reason for them to have taken so long!" says the mocking, self critical voice in the back of my mind.
"Aha! I'm so glad you said that!" say reasonable, rational I.

It all boils down to UX and iterations. The thing about designing things is that quite often there's iterations that take place well before the final product. These are rarely seen and not commonly talked about.
So was the case with the character sheets. Since this was something I played with friends and we were always very old school about things, our sheets existed in notebooks and scraps of paper. Each suited to their creator and their particular style of organization (or lack thereof).
In attempting to find a layout that's concise and approachable for a larger audience, however, I had to take some time to think about how to solve this problem. One of the core problem statements was how to have a unified character sheet with 5 distinct mechanical styles to account for. It's great for game-play but not so great for finding a unified solution.
With a defined problem to solve, I set about creating a few layouts and then running them by some of the team to see if they found it just as easy to use.
Finally, after we'd all settled on a look that worked, I had to actually translate it from notebook to digital with my exceptionally basic photoshop skills. After which I had to make it editable!

So, there you have it. That was the process in a nutshell.
Not mentioned are the arguments and tantrums that I threw!
Anyway, in summation, we went with a two page approach. The first with all that was common between our rulesets. This is your stats, health, competencies, adaptations, etc.
The second page of each sheet is unique to a character based on what power source they're using. Right now, I've uploaded the pages for Martial and Arcane, but as we release Primal, Chakra, and Divine classes, their relevant character sheet pages will be uploaded alongside them. Even here, there were a few commonalities, so the top of each of their sheets features information for characters' weapons.
I hope this helps all of you who are embarking on your own journeys with the Bludgeon system.
Good luck and stay sharp!
Tejas & the Bludgeon Team.
